To the Local Council,
I am writing to express my views on the large increase in tourism in our local area over the past twelve months. As a resident of this area, I have had the opportunity to observe both the advantages and disadvantages of this increase.
Firstly, I would like to highlight the advantages of more tourists visiting our local area. One of the most significant advantages is the boost in the local economy. The influx of tourists has led to an increase in business for local shops, restaurants, and other tourist-oriented establishments. This has led to job creation and economic growth in the area. Additionally, tourists also bring in a lot of revenue through taxes and fees, which can be used to improve infrastructure and services in the area.
However, along with the advantages, there are also some disadvantages to the large increase in tourism. One of the most significant disadvantages is the strain on the local infrastructure and services. The influx of tourists has led to an increase in traffic congestion, parking problems, and strain on local amenities such as toilets and parks. This can lead to a decline in the quality of life for residents. Another disadvantage is the effect on the environment and the natural beauty of the area. With more tourists, there is an increased risk of litter and pollution, which can damage the natural environment.
Given these disadvantages, I believe that the council should first deal with the strain on the local infrastructure and services. To do this, the council should invest in improving the public transport system, increase the number of public toilets and parking spaces, and also invest in improving the local amenities such as parks and playgrounds. Additionally, the council should also take steps to control the environmental impact of tourism, such as implementing stricter regulations on littering and pollution.
