A party i attended
Talia Toretto had invited me to her birthday party. To be honest, I did not really want to go, but she was one of the 'cool' kids, and my friends convinced me to go. I regretted that from the moment it started.
The party started late to begin with. Being the punctual type, I arrived at Talia's house at five o'clock sharp. I was welcomed by Talia, who seemed quite indifferent to see me. 'Oh, Spenser it's you' she said, calling me by my family name 'make yourself comfortable! Nobody has arrived yet'. She urged me to sit on the sofa while she went to take a shower. The guests began to show up one hour later.
Talia's house was lavishly decorated, with bright balloons, fairy lights and expensive flower bouquets. She began to play her records. The hard-rock music was not to my taste but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. I could not spot my friends, the ones that convinced me to come here in the first place. I called them. I almost dropped my phone when they told me that they would not be able to come.
I wasn't very acquainted with the others at the party, even if we were all about the same age. They were the 'cool kids'. We barely spoke to each other at College, and it would not start now. I was a stranger. Nevertheless, I decided to stick for dinner.
Then came dinner time. Talia invited us to serve ourselves in the open buffet. Everyone rushed there and there was a huge crowd around the table. I waited to let others partake of the spread first. That turned out to be a mistake. When I finally reached the table, there was nothing left. I was hungry, consequently, I made the best move of the evening, I sneaked out and went to a nearby McDonalds for a burger. It took about 45 minutes.
When I returned to the party, it turned that nobody even noticed that I was gone. I looked around and saw some guys telling silly jokes and others pretending to laugh at them. I've had enough, I called a taxi and returned home.
