I am writing to express my dismay with the level of service offered by our public busses. I understand that transportation infrastructure is complex, but the system by which our city organizes the buses needs to be changed. Moreover, there is an increasing urgency due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

There are several problems with public transport in the town of Devon. First, delays are on an increasingly regular basis, causing long waiting hours at the bus stop. Second, busses which consecutively fail to arrive on time lead to overcrowding. It is impossible to adhere to social distancing precautions and this encourages the spread of the virus. Furthermore, the air conditioning units inside the busses are often broken.

In the past week, I have experienced six late buses on my commute and one that did not arrive at all. This affects my work because I arrive late every day and have to work supplementary hours, let alone the fatigue of taking 2 hours for a trip that should have taken 30 minutes.

One solution to improve this situation would be to add additional services, that is, provide a greater number of busses. Another solution would be to create a lane especially for busses, this would prevent busses from being stuck in traffic jams. These steps would not only reduce waiting time but would also encourage more people to take the bus, which is beneficial for the environment. Reducing carbon emissions is a priority to combat climate change. Lastly, the bus schedule needs to be modified in order to reflect the time when the busses arrive more accurately.

I hope that you will take my complaint into consideration. Many people suffer under the deterioration of public transportation in Devon, and while many of them are as inconvenienced as I am, few will take the time to notify you.
