It was a typical Wednesday morning and I was getting ready for work when my phone rang. It was my best friend, Jane, calling to tell me that she and her husband were getting a divorce. I couldn't believe it. They had been together for 10 years and had always seemed so happy. I offered to come over and talk, but Jane said she needed some time alone.

Feeling uneasy, I went to work but couldn't concentrate on my tasks. My mind kept drifting back to Jane and her broken marriage. I thought about all the times we had double dated, the trips we had taken together, and the countless hours we had spent talking about our future plans. Now, all of that seemed like a distant memory.

As the day went on, I started to reflect on my own relationship. My boyfriend and I had been dating for three years, and while things had been good, lately I realised it wasn't working. We had grown distant and the spark that had once been there was now gone.

That evening, I decided to have a talk with him. I told him how I had been feeling and how I didn't think our relationship was going in the direction I had hoped. He was shocked and hurt, but we both knew deep down that it was the right thing to do.

The following days were tough. My best friend was going through a divorce and I was dealing with the aftermath of my own break up. But as time passed, I started to see the silver lining. Jane was now able to focus on herself and figure out what she truly wanted in life. And I too, was able to focus on myself and figure out what I wanted in a relationship.

Looking back on that Wednesday morning, I never could have imagined the events that would unfold. But in the end, it was all for the best. I realised that sometimes, when things aren't working, it's important to make the difficult decision to move on. It's not always easy, but it's necessary for personal growth and happiness.
