A newspaper recently published an article about whether countries should spend money on space
exploration. Readers were invited to write letters in response to this article. Write two contrasting
letters to the newspaper (300–450 words each): one in favour of spending money on space
exploration, and the other against it.
Letter 1 argues that space exploration is necessary for technological advancement, economic growth, resource sustainability, international cooperation, and human curiosity. Letter 2 argues that the billions of dollars allocated for space exploration could be better spent addressing urgent issues on Earth, such as the climate crisis, poverty, and lack of access to education and healthcare. The author suggests that we should prioritize creating a sustainable and equitable world on Earth before venturing out into space.
