Learning Approach
Background: Social learning theory proposed that behavior can be learned through observation and imitation.
Aim: To investigate whether children would imitate aggressive behavior modeled by an adult.
Procedure: Children were randomly assigned to one of three groups: an aggressive model group, a non-aggressive model group, or a control group.
Children in the aggressive model group observed an adult behaving aggressively towards a Bobo doll.
Children in the non-aggressive model group observed an adult behaving non-aggressively towards the Bobo doll.
Children in the control group did not observe any models.
All children were then taken to a room with a Bobo doll and other toys and observed for their behavior.
Sample: 72 children (36 boys, 36 girls).
Sampling Technique: Opportunity sampling.
Experimental Design: Independent measures.
Controls: The control group.
Ethical Issues: The study involved exposing children to aggressive behavior, which could have had potential negative effects on their behavior.
