A letter of apology

St Malphite Road

18th July 2021
Dear Lucian
Please allow me to apologize for wrongly accusing you of stealing my laptop yesterday at the office. My behaviour was extremely unprofessional and lacked the respect you deserved.
Kindly allow me to explain my inappropriate reaction. First, I have been working long and exhausting shifts during the previous weeks. Being deprived of sleep, I was not able to maintain my usual composure. Second, there was a deadline due in one hour and I had a massive amount of work to complete. I was under significant pressure to finish in time.
Consequently, when I returned to my desk after going to the coffee machine, I was considerably alarmed when I noticed that my laptop was not where I originally left it. I made the regrettable mistake to assume that somebody had stolen it in order to prevent me from meeting the deadline. Since you were seated next to me, I assumed it was you. That was very immature of me.
It never occurred to me that the technician could have briefly borrowed my laptop in order to update its software. I forgot that I had requested him to do so. I sincerely apologise to have made a scene in the office. It was embarrassing, and I learned that nobody appreciated my poor behaviour. This will not happen again in the future.
Again, I am sorry for my actions and I hope that we can put this matter behind us. I look forward to working with you soon. If you have any thoughts on this, please feel free to share. You may contact me at your convenience by phone.
Sincerely,
Fiora
A road accident

Narrative
My friends and I are on our way back home after a sumptuous dinner at a restaurant. All of us are a little tipsy as we might have drunk a little bit more beer than recommended. Even the one at the wheel is not completely sober, but this isn't a problem in 2090. The majority of cars are self-driving. A car accident is the least of our worries since the last one happened years ago. We are relaxing while listening to a music playlist. Our music is chosen by artificial intelligence and is uniquely generated to fit all of our different music tastes.
Suddenly, the car in front of us, an expensive two-wheeled Lamborghini, screeches to a stop and changes direction to the opposite lane. That normally never happens. In a flash, the car gets out of the road and heads at full speed towards a random building. I am horrified at what happens next.
I helplessly watch the car brutally hit a young girl before crashing into the building. The girl's body lays lifeless on the street. Her splendid immaculate white dress lays now in a pool of blood. I will never forget this gruesome sight. The Lamborghini is blaring with wild flames, I doubt that there are any surviving passengers. The acrid scent of petroleum wafts in the air. I now notice that our car and all the cars in proximity have stopped simultaneously. The doors have been automatically locked, impossible to get out. A chill runs down my spine. My friends sit silently in shock.
Thankfully, we soon hear the siren of an ambulance. In 20 minutes, the police, the firefighters, as well as a group of news reporters, are deployed here. I hear the loud buzzing of helicopters above me. A small crowd of curious onlookers gathers at the scene. They are immediately dispersed by the police. I learn by eavesdropping on the reporters that Lamborghini's owner is a very important and wealthy man. His self-driving car has been hacked and controlled by computer hackers. Someone obviously wanted him dead.
Abruptly, all the cars start to move again. I am glad to leave this ghastly scene. This day will probably stay rooted in my mind for my entire life. The journey home will be quiet.
A teacher whom i admire

Mr Cox is no ordinary science teacher. Not only is he talented at teaching biology, chemistry and physics, but he is also a famous online influencer.
Mr Cox is an imposing bespectacled man and is always dressed in a fancy colourful suit. He often wears a thin layer of make-up. His long ink-black hair is tied in a messy ponytail. His appearance is much debated among the teaching community but he does not care. While a strict disciplinarian in school hours, it is after class that we discover his wild side.
I consider myself being very lucky to be one of Mr Cox's students. Every day after class, he would invite any volunteers to his personal laboratory in order to participate in crazy or oddly satisfying science experiments. I always volunteer. His laboratory looks more like a filming set, with stray cables everywhere, artificial lights and professional cameras. He even employs a cameraman. He can afford such expenses thanks to his millions of viewers on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
Mr Cox likes to experiment with magnets, mixing different substances or working with electricity. Naturally, he always pays extra attention to health and safety precautions. I actually learn more from these experiments than in theoretical science classes during school hours. My favourite experiment was when he made a giant foam explosion by mixing litres of Coca-cola, Sprite and Fanta fizzy drinks with a kilo of MENTOS mint sweets. This was also his most viewed video. Not only does he teach us students, new and fascinating things, but also people all over the world.
Mr Cox side hobby does not make him any less dedicated in his profession. He might not be much appreciated by his colleagues, but he is by far the student's favourite. It is also observed that his students scored higher marks. This might be because he views the world differently compared to other teachers, who mostly focus on cramming a lot of information in our heads for exams. Mr Cox teaches us not only science but also facts about the universe, ecological challenges and the future of our generation. Mr Cox is a truly unique teacher. He is a role model to me.
Report on a fight you witnessed

A FIGHT IN THE SCHOOL CANTEEN
The fight took place at Trinity Secondary School, inside the canteen at about 12 15 P.M on the 20th of July 2021. The fight took place between two class 12 students, Lucian Laurent and Zilean Choo. I was present when the fight between my classmates took place.
It was lunchtime and the canteen was crowded as usual. I saw Lucian walk angrily towards Zilean. Lucian provoked him into a fight. The latter was repeatedly mentioning the name of a girl; Fiora, who I assume was at the origin of their disagreement. Zilean exploded in a fit of rage and lunged towards Lucian landing several kicks in his stomach.
A crowd of students gathered quickly around Lucian and Zilean. Instead of attempting to separate the pair, the crowd cheered at the fight. Some students got out their smartphones and started filming. Some prefects dashed over to stop the fight, in vain. Lucian had fallen to the ground. He was being kicked repeatedly in the abdomen by Zilean. They were both swearing at each other. The fight lasted about 10 minutes.
The fight was stopped when Mr Zed, a teacher, rushed to intervene after being alerted by students. He had to physically impose himself between the boys in order to stop the fight.
Mr Zed dispersed the crowd of students by urging them to go back to their classes. Lucian who was bleeding profusely from the nose was sent to the infirmary. Zilean sustained some slight bruises on his face. The parents of both boys had been contacted. Both boys were afterwards suspended from school.
I was asked by the school disciplinary council, as a witness, to report this fight. Furthermore, I would wish to express my concern about videos of the aforementioned fight that have been circulating on Facebook. Steps need to be taken by the council to remove these videos.
